familiar

These are the images in my thesis show entitled "Familiar." This body of work focuses on leading viewers to relate to the abstraction, sensuality, and tenderness of the imagery on an intuitive level. The work is meant to draw attention to the connectivity of lines, forms, and textures that are repeated throughout our bodies and the natural world around us, aspects that inextricably link us all. I was attempting to explore this idea through the nude figure in relation to the lines and shapes of the landscape, but found this new avenue much more fulfilling. This idea of growth through the knowledge of our similarities with each other and nature has led me to explore art as a therapeutic exercise instead of focusing solely on the final product.

recent nudes

These are some more recent nude portraits I have done. Some are digital, some are with a large format camera on 4x5 negatives. I was creating these right before making the decision to move in a different direction for my thesis.

handmade books

These images are from a small accordion fold book I created. I have, in the past 8 months or so, been very interested in the construction of handmade books, investigating how text changes and plays with imagery on the page, how form affects content, and how sequencing of images and addition or omission of text can change how the reader perceives them completely. I will be posting more about the books I've made, and the ones I am currently making in the next month or so. Keep an eye out! =)

jazz

With this set of images, I was working on manipulating space and the musicians' physicality in order to emulate the rhythms and sounds of jazz music visually.

pinhole nudes

These are a few of the nude portraits I did last year. I created these with pinhole cameras; simple boxes, some handmade out of wood and glue, some out of old altoid boxes that were given to me by another photographer. I'll be documenting the pinhole cameras soon to accompany this post. Thanks =)
